People are starting to notice that it is rather hypocritical for the Jews - and yes, it was the Jews - to crucify - and yes, it was a crucifixion - Helen Thomas for the sin of being flippant about what should be done about the sins of the Jewish people. The mass ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians is an obsession of World Jewry. An obsession. There are entire books written about the role of transfer in the history of Zionism (see a list of links here, "Expulsion of the Palestinians: The Concept of "Transfer" in Zionist Political Thought, 1882-1948" by Nur Masalha, "The Palestinian exodus, 1948-1998" edited by Ghada Karmi and Eugene Cotran containing a relevant article by Nur Masalha, another article by Nur Masalha here, and the book by Chaim Simons, available here as a pdf). For a group which likes to say 'A land without a people for a people without a land', they sure spent a lot of time planning the mass transplantation of the people who apparently weren't there.
This isn't just a matter of the history of Zionist planning. The issue is alive today, both in Israel and in diaspora musings. In April of this year, Israel changed its laws to allow it to arrest and deport Palestinians from the West Bank. This was correctly perceived in Jordan as removing a legal impediment to the mass forced movement of Palestinians to Jordan. The Jews would wait for a war, perhaps when they attack Lebanon to steal more land and water. A rocket, probably fired from Israel, would hit the West Bank. Then the Jews, for 'humanitarian reasons', would force the Palestinians at gunpoint onto buses and drive them to Jordan. I'm sure the logistical plans have already been drawn up by some Jewish Eichmann.
The diaspora also likes to muse about transfer, often as if it was a new idea which has just occurred to the writer. Here's über-liberal - we might want to rethink that! - Matt Yglesias. Oh, and Dershowitz, speaking "As a civil libertarian and human rights activist" (!!!), wonders if we are perhaps overstating the suffering caused by transfer, which is just a trifle unless it occurred to Jewish refugees in Europe. There is also a version of this where what little remains of the West Bank is taken over by Jordan, with presumably a slower ethnic cleansing (Hadar, Bolton). The hilarity is that this is always presented as a good idea for everybody. So obvious. So painless. Why didn't somebody think of this before?
The Jews were so desperate to change the subject from the massacre of the humanitarians on the Gaza flotilla that they inadvertently opened a major embarrassment, the importance of violent ethnic cleansing in Zionist thinking. In fact, violent ethnic cleansing is the central theme of Zionism.
One year later, Justin Trudeau is poised to disappoint nearly everyone who voted for him - I come not to bury Justin Trudeau but to praise him. Sort of. Just about everything I believed about him before his 2015 election triumph was largely wr...
