Jaredgate

"Israel will get ‘more understanding’ from Trump’s negotiators because they’re all observant Jews, Sharansky says" (Weiss).  "Flynn’s indictment over Russian influence reveals… Israel’s influence!" (Weiss).  The whole Flynn thing is now turning on Jared's rabid support of the settlements.  I'm sure there have already been high-level meetings at all American mainstream media outlets about how they will spin this (there is some muting in the glee you would expect from the usual suspects as the story becomes impossible to report honestly without revealing some painful realities).  Tweet (Ali Abunimah) (also):
"My advice to Putin on how to stop the “Russian meddling” hysteria in Washington cold is simply to change his name to “Vladimir Netanyahu.” No US pundits or pols will ever question his actions again."
Tweet (Michael Tracey):
"Kushner reportedly directed Flynn to call "every member" of the UN Security Council about an Israeli settlements resolution... and the main takeaway is that this is a "Russia scandal""
When push comes to shove, Trump may have to throw Jared under the bus. Does Trump have what it takes to disappoint his little girl?

"The Scalp-Taking of Gen. Flynn" (Parry):
"What is arguably most disturbing about this case is that then-National Security Adviser Flynn was pushed into a perjury trap by Obama administration holdovers at the Justice Department who concocted an unorthodox legal rationale for subjecting Flynn to an FBI interrogation four days after he took office, testing Flynn’s recollection of the conversations while the FBI agents had transcripts of the calls intercepted by the National Security Agency.

In other words, the Justice Department wasn’t seeking information about what Flynn said to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak – the intelligence agencies already had that information. Instead, Flynn was being quizzed on his precise recollection of the conversations and nailed for lying when his recollections deviated from the transcripts.

For Americans who worry about how the pervasive surveillance powers of the U.S. government could be put to use criminalizing otherwise constitutionally protected speech and political associations, Flynn’s prosecution represents a troubling precedent."
"ABC Makes "Epic Mistake", Retracts Bombshell Flynn Story"(Durden).  "Time-Traveling Michael Flynn Colludes with Russians in December to Interfere with Election in November" (Sailer).  "Did Flynn's Plea Deal Just Disprove Election Collusion":
"Mueller’s “Statement of Offense” establishes is that there wasn’t an existing backchannel between the Trump campaign and Russia – at least through Flynn, as it pertains to pre-election collusion."
"Mueller Charges Against Flynn Exonerate Trump of Russian Collusion by Publius Tacitus":
"Not one of the things outlined in the Mueller complaint was illegal nor immoral with respect to contacts with Russia. In fact, the sequence of events and Flynn's role provides direct evidence that the senior Trump team had no established contacts with Russia. If they did, why the hell did they rely on Flynn to persuade the Russian government to do or not do things if Trump and his family were already on the Kremlin hook? Makes no sense whatsoever."
