Spy scrubbing

The original reporting on the capture of the alleged Times Square bomber stated that Army spy planes were used to track his cell phone. Although reaction to this is all around the internet, that aspect of the capture has been scrubbed from the story. What you might have missed (from the cache):
"In the end, it was secret Army intelligence planes that did him in. Armed with his cell phone number, they circled the skies over the New York area, intercepting a call to Emirates Airlines reservations, before scrambling to catch him at John F. Kennedy International Airport. "

I wonder if the US government ordered the fixing of the story to hide its operations (not to mention to hide its routine invasions of privacy).
