"Assange prosecutor quits while accuser sacks lawyer"  We've learned that Swedes haven't a clue about justice, with the latest wtf? outrage being a public lecture by a Swedish judge on the Assange case:
"Greg Barns, a barrister spokesman for the Australian Lawyers Alliance, said it was a fundamental legal principle that judges do not speak publicly on matters that are likely to come before the courts or are yet to be decided.
"That a Swedish supreme court judge thinks this is acceptable tends to confirm the fears people have about the impartiality and robustness of the Swedish judicial system. It gives great currency to the belief that Mr Assange's case in Sweden has been heavily politicised.
"Federal Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus should be taking this matter up with his Swedish counterpart as a matter of urgency," Mr Barns said."
"BBC-Guardian Exposé Uses WikiLeaks to Link Iraq Torture Centers to U.S. Col. Steele & Gen. Petraeus":
"MAGGIE O’KANE: Well, I think when the WikiLeaks documents came out in November 2011, I had a sense, and the team that I work with who have spent a lot of time covering the war in Iraq, that there was a deeper story here. And one of the things that made us very interested was there was a reference to a thing called "Frago 242," which was Fragmentary Order 242, which was a U.S. military order instructing U.S. soldiers to ignore Iraq-on-Iraqi torture. Now, this incidence, this Frago 242, came up over a thousand times in the documents as we looked at it, and we wondered why was this order issued and what was the story behind it. And there was also references in the WikiLeaks to a General Adnan Thabit, who was visiting the American embassy. So, it was a sense that there was a deeper story to tell here and that the WikiLeaks documents, because they were the actual documents and what the State Department was sending back to Washington about what was going on, that this was a real treasure trove that we should explore, rather than just become excited about the means of these documents being delivered."
Note that American soldiers who are witnesses are afraid to speak out because they see what happened to Bradley Manning.  Also note that the American mainstream news media is avoiding the documentary like the plague.

The Bush-Barry continuum:  "CIA 'black site' agent promoted":
"The woman agent who ran a secret CIA operation to waterboard al-Qaeda operatives in Thailand has been selected as the first female to run the spy agency's clandestine operations division.

US media reports  from Washington said the woman was appointed earlier this month. It was yet another sign the Obama administration has adopted virtually all the anti-terrorist policies of the administration of ex-president George W Bush.

But Thailand, so far, has not been mentioned in any legal proceedings from the post-9/11 actions against al-Qaeda terrorists. The existence of a CIA-run black house in Thailand has been frequently reported in the media, but all Thai governments have denied knowledge of any such operation.

The new CIA director of clandestine operations was under investigation briefly because, in 2005, she authorised and took part in the destruction of more than 90 videotapes of interrogations at the Thailand black site.

Her boss at the time, Jose Rodriguez, claimed in a book written after his retirement that he was trying to protect the identities of CIA interrogators. But the CIA officially reprimanded him for the action, effectively ending his career.

Members of the US Democratic Party on the senate intelligence committee wrote a report, still classified, that said top CIA officers, presumably including the new clandestine services director, misled supervisors and members of the US Congress about the programme's value.

They charged it was "managed incompetently by senior officials who did not pay attention to details". The CIA may respond by next week."

Spies and spin

"US defence contractor, 59, 'gave classified information to 27-year-old Chinese lover in honeytrap'"  "Sex Succeeds In Securing Secrets"

"How life of spy Ben Zygier unravelled"  I think this story was actually written by the Mossad (for example, how could you possibly determine conclusively that the Milan company was not a Mossad front?).  It neatly ties up two Mossad problems simultaneously, the Zygier death and its effect on recruitment, and the remarkable recent success of Lebanese officials in winding up Israeli spy networks.  The idea that Zygier was out in the cold, and tried to double a Hezbollah agent in order to get back into the Mossad, sounds exactly like a discarded script from the cartoonish American television series 'Burn Notice'.

Another meta day

"How Noam Chomsky is discussed"  This is one of the most bizarre things I've ever read.  Apparently although Noam is so influential and important that "there is no living political writer who has more radically changed how more people think in more parts of the world about political issues", a few offhand comments that may or may not have been made about him are giving Greenwald a bad case of the vapors.  It is like reading a committed Catholic write about the Pope!

The Mossad is worried that the imprisonment and murder of a well-meaning Israeli intelligence asset for nothing other than having a conscience might impair future recruitment, and so has fabricated a crime - an utterly unbelievable tall tale -  using one of its usual propaganda outlets:  "Zygier Case Revealed: In Failing to Penetrate Iran and Hezbollah, He Exposed Israeli Spies in Lebanon"  "Ben Zygier’s Betrayal Led to Worst Mossad Debacle in Decades"

"Charles Krafft and the Conundrum of Nazi Art"  This is hilarious.  I can't tell if his sin was his political beliefs, or the fact that he was being sincere rather than the hipster-preferred ironic.  His work goes from brilliant to kitsch without any change in the physical objects themselves.  Since he never tried to hide anything, his real art is a long performance piece criticising the silliness of art criticism and the art market.

A better day

Every blue moon or so, somebody writes something smart:  "A parade of characters and causes led the US to war in Iraq" by Muhammad Idrees Ahmad:
"A survey of the stories appearing in the immediate aftermath of September 11, linking Iraq to the attacks, reveals an almost exclusively neoconservative provenance.
Most of the stories I have seen cite unsubstantiated claims by one person, neocon ideologue Laurie Mylroie. Her theories were aggressively promoted inside government by Paul Wolfowitz, who also assigned his protégé Douglas Feith to find material to support Ms Mylroie's claims.
Mr Feith established two ad hoc offices - the Policy Counterterrorism Evaluation Group and the Office of Special Plans - to manufacture the Iraq-Al Qaeda connection and evidence of Iraq's alleged WMDs. He was assisted by exiles and con-men of the Iraqi National Congress and, more significantly in my view, by The New York Times correspondent Judith Miller, co-author with Ms Mylroie of a 1991 book on Iraq.
Meanwhile, neocon linchpin Richard Perle arranged for Mr Cheney to be personally briefed on multiple occasions by orientalist doyen Bernard Lewis, who assured the revanchist vice president that the only language Arabs understood was force. "Shock and awe" was the natural corollary.
But what of oil? For all its prima facie plausibility, the "war-for-oil" thesis seems to satisfy the test neither of logic nor evidence. In 2003, Iraq wasn't withholding its oil, it was being embargoed. The oil companies had spent a decade lobbying not for war, but for lifting of the sanctions. Minds might have changed by 2003, but there were many means available, less costly and more predictable than war.
At least three times in the six months leading up to war, Saddam Hussein had made desperate efforts to preserve his power by offering the US privileged access to Iraqi oil. Oil companies got on the bandwagon only after war had become inevitable, though not without trepidation. They all feared the destabilisation that might follow.
For Mr Cheney and Mr Rumsfeld, the primary motivation was not oil, but the war's demonstrative effect - a sanguine assertion of US military power, to intimidate any rogue who might consider harming the US by handing WMDs to terrorists. For Bush, according to most insiders, the chief motor was his simplistic, messianic belief in fighting an "evil" regime - a regime that had earlier bedevilled his father. He was also flattered by advisers and Iraqi exiles into embracing his new role as a leader of men, liberator of peoples, bestower of democracy.
It is possible that Mr Bush, Mr Cheney and Mr Rumsfeld would have decided to invade Iraq without neoconservative encouragement. But without their help it was unlikely that the war party could have overcome the resistance of the hesitant military, intelligence and diplomatic establishments. In their social cohesion, ideological coherence and dominance of the national security apparatus, and with the resources and institutional support of the wider Israel lobby, the neoconservatives had advantages unavailable to any other faction.
In the long paper trail the neoconservatives left over the previous decade - particularly the two policy papers Mr Perle, Mr Feith and David Wurmser wrote for Benjamin Netanyahu's first government - ideas that Mr Wurmser later elaborated in his 1998 book Tyranny's Ally - these motivations are unequivocally stated.
Neoconservatism has its ideological roots in revisionist Zionism, and so it gives Israel high priority. For the neocons, the war was desirable because it would fragment a potentially powerful Arab state and leave Israel's real nemesis, Iran, more vulnerable. It would also leave the Palestinians more isolated and amenable to compromise. For them the road to Jerusalem ran through Baghdad"
This is so much better than the 'war for oil' crap I usually have to wade through.  'War for oil' has reappeared ten years later for the same old reason, to protect the guilty.  Remember 'War for no oil?'?

  2. refuses to allow the use of Palestinian statehood to start criminal actions against Israel and its officials.
It looks very strongly that Obama paid off Abbas with money - "US unblocks $500 million in aid to Palestinians" -  to obtain his complete capitulation to the Jews as his gift to Bibi in lieu of giving Bibi Pollard and an Iran attack.

"Does Russia Have its Eye on Strategic Cyprus?"  Cyprus banks are just a tool of international Jewish criminality, by crime groups based in Russia and Israel, and the Europeans (well, Germans) are fed up.  You have to feel sorry for the people of Cyprus, but maybe, just maybe, could they chose a government that hasn't been utterly corrupted by World Jewry and turns a blind eye to the worst financial chicanery in the world?  Note that the proposed plan for Russia to save Cyprus involves Russia taking over exploitation of the offshore gas fields that Israel intended to exploit.  You have to wonder if this is the big discussion in Israel now between that criminal state and the Americans.

"Barbarian Rhapsody: Ten Years Deeper Into Hell":
"So here we are. Ten years on from the frenzied paroxysm (or was it an orgasm?) of mass violence -- which was itself the culmination of years of the bipartisan war-by-sanctions that American officials have openly acknowledged killed more than half a million Iraqi children -- what is the central "moral" issue of our national politics today? This once-unimaginable, horribly depraved and obscene question: Should the president be allowed to murder any American citizen he chooses, or should there perhaps be be some kind of secret Congressional oversight of the secret killing program? (The idea of restricting the president's power to kill any filthy foreigner he chooses is not in question anywhere in our national politics, of course; Rand Paul wasn't filibustering against that idea. No, any debate on the "ethics" of state murder is restricted to its application to Americans, who, as we know, are the only fully human beings on the face of the earth.)

Given the current trajectory of our plunge into barbarism, I predict that in just a few years we'll be "debating" whether the president has the right to stick the severed heads of "terrorists" on spikes outside the White House, or if the heads should be passed around discreetly to members of the relevant Senate committees before being dumped in the ocean."

Note how revelations about Steele's operations in El Salvador put him out of favor in Washington, but the neocons remembered him and brought him back to do the same dirty deeds in Iraq.

A message from Barry (and Chuck)

A real blow to Bibi and World Jewry:  "US scraps final phase of European missile shield".  Never, ever forget how important crazed American militarism is to the Jews, and to withdraw missiles that were to be installed supposedly against the mythical Iranian nuclear threat, at a time just before Barry is going to meet Bibi, well, a kick in the teeth has never been clearer (I imagine Hagel got a thrill out of the announcement).

Just to emphasize the issue, and to demonstrate Barry's important No Military Contractor Left Behind Program, note the almost simultaneous announcement about defending against the mythical North Korean threat:  "Pentagon plans to add missile interceptors in Alaska".  Neither threat is real, but the Iranian one, the one the Jews can't stop talking about, has been moved into the ridiculous category.

"Freedom Rider: Rand Paul Exposes the Democrats"  "We Stand with Rand"

"On Questioning the Jewish State" Only notable as it is in the NYT.

"Why Israel Is Calling For Jonathan Pollard's Release Now":
"If there’s an air of extreme urgency to this latest clemency campaign, that’s at least partly because time is running out. According to his Federal Bureau of Prisons profile, Pollard is scheduled for parole in November 2015. For those interested in making political hay from the poor guy’s misery, therefore, this is probably the last chance.

. . .

And even if commutation or pardon isn’t forthcoming, as seems inevitable given the fierce opposition of the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence community, raising Pollard during the visit offers a rare opportunity for the Israeli right to embarrass Obama before the world media. Already the president caused a stir in Jerusalem by declining to address the Knesset, reportedly out of fear that rightists would create a commotion. Feiglin had vowed to walk out of the chamber. It wasn’t clear how many others would join him. Instead Obama will address an invited audience at the Jerusalem convention center.

On the other hand, the potential for embarrassment cuts both ways. It was less than a month ago that Israel and the world were shocked by disclosures about another Diaspora Jew who was exploited by Israeli intelligence, trapped between two loyalties and ended up in prison. In that case the compromised agent was an Australian native, Ben Zygier, and the prison where he ended up was Israeli. And unlike Pollard, he didn’t survive his incarceration."

The sins of Hugo Chavez

Hugo Chavez was the most important person in the world when he died.  Why did he evoke so much pure hatred amongst the right-wing assholes?:
  1. Although, as many have pointed out, he could have done a lot more - and to be fair, he planned more, and was under constant threat of another attack or coup from the United States - he appropriated some of the rents stolen from the people of Venezuela by the global 1%, including even some from Exxon, i. e., the Rockefellers.  You just don't do that and expect to get away with it.
  2. He was extremely influential all across South America.  While the ideas may have come from Fidel, Fidel was never really able to gain much influence outside Cuba.  Venezuela is now much more influential in South America than the United States, and the economic success of South American economies released from the shackles of neoliberalism and the United States should lead to more influence around the world.
  3. Modern economics, a pathetic collection of pure nonsense and lies, was created expressly as a propaganda device to protect the interests of the 1%.  In particular, it is intended to reinforce the notion that there is no alternative to turbo capitalism, and all attempts to provide any help to the poor will not only fail but will also grievously backfire, leaving the poor worse off than before.  The only choice is to allow the 1% to have their way, and trust in a little trickle down.  The last 30 years or so have conclusively proven that modern economics is a lie.  Hugo Chavez demonstrated that you could defy the predictions of modern economics, help the poor, and have a successful economy.  This is so hard for the toady journalists to understand that they actually make up data about Venezuela in order to prove to themselves that everything they think they know isn't wrong.  This kind of paradigm shift hurts the tiny brains of the evil and the stupid.
  4. Hugo Chavez stayed true to his friends, and stayed true to the truth.  He called George Bush the devil, and refused to abandon his friends despite enormous pressure, particularly from 'progressives' and World Jewry (as we've seen, pretty much the same group). One of the main techniques of the devils is to cause the righteous to break from their friends on the basis of dubious and unimportant phony differences of opinion.
  5. Perhaps most importantly, Hugo Chavez defied the edict of the 1% that the poor are to be without hope.  Hopelessness leads to despair and an inability to act.  It was the poor who defeated the coups and the coup plotters, and kept Hugo Chavez in power.  He gave hope to them, and they proved to themselves that they were in control of their future.  This is the main thing that capitalism is afraid of.  Once the poor see the effects of their own actions, the lies of the 1% fall away.

  2. "Obama’s Atrocious Statement on Chavez’s Death" by Jennifer Rubin.  We have to give Barry and the US State Department some credit here.  In most places in South America and the Middle East the reputation of the United States could not possibly be lower, and piling on and gloating over a death, a death which many feel the United States is responsible for, would simply be stupid.

"Argentina’s President slams Israel Lobby":
"Guillermo Borger, while criticizing Kirchner government’s decision, claimed that the “truth commision” would result in a third bombing. In response, Kirchner accused Borger of being in contact with a foreign espionage agency (Mossad) – and said that’s how Borger knew about the coming terrorist attack. I bet Kirchner is not ignorant of Israel’s hundreds of terrorist false flag operations."
"Las Vegas Sands says "likely" violated U.S. corruption act" Sheldon's support of Romney has cost him some of the usual protections.

"Jewish Voice for Weizmann"  Lite Zionism is just a branch of hard-core Zionism, a slightly different set of tactical choices with the same desired end result.

"Israeli News Documentary Finds Israeli Intelligence Agencies Negligent in Zygier Suicide"  Note how Silverstein has become one of the main 'limited hangout' outlets for Israeli intelligence.  Throw in a few concessions that appear to be slightly embarrassing, paint the whole thing as a leak, and you can spin whatever scenario the Israeli government wants people to believe.  At the moment, Israeli intelligence wants to convince future possible recruits that they don't murder their own.

Limiting the 'damage':  "Obama renews offer to cut social safety nets" (my emphasis in red):
"President Barack Obama raised anew the issue of cutting entitlements such as Medicare and Social Security as a way out of damaging budget cuts, a White House official said on Sunday, as both sides in Washington tried to limit a fiscal crisis that may soon hit millions of Americans."
An example of the 'damage' that can be avoided if only old people would develop a taste for cat food: "AIPAC takes on the latest threat to Israel — sequestration"

On cue:  "The Holocaust Just Got More Shocking"

"Return of the oppressed":
"Three years ago I published a short article in the science journal Nature. I pointed out that several leading indicators of political instability look set to peak around 2020. In other words, we are rapidly approaching a historical cusp, at which the US will be particularly vulnerable to violent upheaval. This prediction is not a ‘prophecy’. I don’t believe that disaster is pre-ordained, no matter what we do. On the contrary, if we understand the causes, we have a chance to prevent it from happening. But the first thing we will have to do is reverse the trend of ever-growing inequality."
Since the elites allow less inequality only when they fear social upheaval, the chance of success of this kind of engineering seems low. We actually have to give them something to be afraid of.

Problems in adapting to change

"Kristol Shrew Persuasion"  Hilarious.  The exchange does make her sound more than slightly unhinged ('sexist pig'?).  Rubin allowed her subscription to 'Court Jew Magazine' to expire, and is unaware that Sheldon is no longer the HMFIC.  She has an important warmongering Zionist propaganda position with the Washington Post, and I wouldn't be surprised if the New Elders of Zion decided to have her replaced with someone whose politics are more to their taste.
