It is obvious what happened. The spin is that Barry was concerned about 'collateral damage', but the Americans don't care about that.  Since the Saudis have started dropping bombs on civilians, the Houthis have been doing very well, so well that continuing the Saudi attack would require Saudi boots on the ground.  The Houthis would then beat the Saudis so badly that:

1. people in Saudi Arabia would question the value of spending hundreds of billions of dollars on arms the Saudis can't use, thus destabilizing both Saudi Arabia and the American arms business;
2. everybody in the world would know for certain that the Saudi military is worse than useless, which might give people ideas;
3. Saudi defeat might even result in the loss of control over the oil fields, even the slightest threat of which would require American boots on the ground, ruining Barry's Presidency.

Thus, it was necessary for the Saudis to declare victory, put their tails between their legs, and run like hell.  The war will now continue between the Houthis and Saudi/American proxy al Qaeda, though nobody in the mainstream media dares to identify it as such.

By the way, it appears that Pakistan's refusal to provide troops to defend the Saudis played a big, maybe determinative, role in how things played out.

Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton is on the board of trustees of RAND Corporation, an organisation specialising in research and development for the United States military and intelligence sector. The Sony Archives show the flow of contacts and information between these two major US industries, whether it is RAND wanting to invite George Clooney and Kevin Spacey to events, or Lynton offering contact to Valerie Jarrett (a close advisor to Obama) or RAND desiring a partnership with IMAX for digital archiving. With this close tie to the military-industrial complex it is no surprise that Sony reached out to RAND for advice regarding its North Korea film The Interview. RAND provided an analyst specialised in North Korea and suggested Sony reach out to the State Department and the NSA regarding North Korea's complaints about the upcoming film. The Sony documents also show Sony being in possession of a brochure for an NSA-evaluated online cloud security set-up called INTEGRITY.
The archives also detail SPE's development of its own films and collecting "intelligence" on rival pictures, for example documents in the archive reveal the budget breakdown for Oliver Stone's rival picture Snowden, which is currently in production. David Boeri, a reporter for the local public radio station WBUR, was, along with CNN’s John King, among several journalists who reported that day on a supposed arrest in connection to the bombing. Their reports were based on information received from judges and courthouse staff. Boeri reported that he had gone to the federal courthouse after being told an arrest had been made. He’d been told by two senior judges and other officials that they had been ordered to prepare courtrooms for a hearing in connection to the bombing.
Soon after the announcement, however, the assembled media were  evacuated due to an alleged bomb threat. “A courtroom was being prepared, and they were even preparing an overflow courtroom at the time,” Boeri said. “That’s when we got a code red alert in the courthouse.”
The following morning the courthouse opened as usual, and it was as if no purported arrests had ever taken place. The After Action Report does not enlighten us on this rather substantial error. And so the 60-page document becomes yet another question mark in a mountain of mysteries."

"FBI’s ‘Smoking Gun’ Video of Boston Marathon Bombing Doesn’t Exist" "What’s Not Being Revealed in the Tsarnaev Courtroom"  The prosecution was consistently dishonest in what was supposed to be a slam-dunk case ("Prosecutorial trickery in US v. Tsarnaev muddies the waters of what should be a straightforward prosecution");
6. there are multiple versions of the kidnapping and escape of Dun Meng ("Boston Carjacking Unravels 1"  "Boston Carjacking Unravels 2"  "Tsarnaev Carjacking Victim’s Escape Video a Microcosm of Why a Closer Look Is Warranted"), a very useful witness as he claims Tamerlan Tsarnaev confessed to both the bombing and the killing of the policeman;
7. the connections of Tamerlan to the US government and the odd but extensive efforts the US government made to cover this up, including failing to assist in the identification, and thus apprehension, of the suspects ("MIT police officer's statement suggests FBI was watching Tsarnaevs the night Sean Collier was killed"):
