Editorial standards

Everybody wants to read it as, these days, in the wacky world of 'journalism', such a public disavowal and retraction is the purest signal of the choicest truth:  "France’s dangerous religion of secularism" (Khosrokhavar).  I'm trying to figure out what the (((problem))) might be.
