Narrowest possible

There seems already to be disappointment that Baraitser didn't take the chance to make some kind of ruling in favor of freedom of speech.  I don't know about that.  Technically, judges are supposed to make their judgments on the narrowest grounds possible.  By focusing entirely on the inability of American prison authorities to prevent the suicide of Assange, she poses a big problem for some crooked appeal court, who will be stuck with having to reject her assertions with respect to Assange, assertions which frankly seem indisputable.  On the other hand, had she gone off on some big screed on freedom of speech, she would have given the crooked appeal judges a huge hole to drive their CIA truck through.  I think I owe Baraitser an apology, and sincerely hope the CIA doesn't drown her in the Thames.
